A serious traffic accident occurred early Saturday morning on the state road D8 in Pirovac, resulting in one death. According to police reports, a 34-year-old driver was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and overtook multiple cars across the solid center line. During the maneuver, he endangered a vehicle coming from the opposite direction and suddenly turned right to avoid a direct collision. His car then hit the rear of a vehicle registered in Zagreb, driven by a 53-year-old man. The impact caused the 53-year-old’s car to veer off the road and collide with a streetlight pole. The victim, identified as Zlatko Plazonić, was the owner of the popular D8 Rock Café in Zadar and a long-time deputy president of the Moto Club Beštije. The 34-year-old driver fled the scene but was later taken to the hospital and will face further criminal investigation once released.
