A French mathematician claims he has discovered a formula to describe love, according to his new book published in both French and English. Pujo-Menjouet believes that mathematics has already proven its value in physics, chemistry, and biology, and it is now time to apply similar tools to psychology. “We have extremely powerful theoretical tools,” he says. “Now it's time to take them out of our laboratories.” Rebecca Tyson, a mathematics professor at Canada’s University of British Columbia, acknowledges the potential of such models in the book’s preface. However, she cautions that human social behavior is highly complex and unlikely to ever be fully captured by any mathematical model.
