A study published in 2022 claims to have determined which dog breed is the most aesthetically pleasing based on mathematical principles. Researchers compared the proportions of 138 popular dog breeds against the golden ratio, a mathematical concept long associated with beauty and harmony, to determine which breed best aligns with this ideal. The research analyzed photographs of the most popular dog breeds, focusing on facial features such as nose length, eye position and spacing, head size, and distances between key points on the face. A score of 100 percent would indicate perfect alignment with the golden ratio. The results showed that the Kern Terrier came out on top, scoring 88.7 percent, followed by the West Highland White Terrier at 87.5 percent, and the Border Collie at 86.7 percent. The Kern Terrier, also known as the Scottish Terrier, is a small, wiry breed recognized for its lively and spirited temperament. This ancient breed has been around for centuries and is known for being energetic, cheerful, and courageous. The Border Collie, ranked third, is one of the most intelligent working dog breeds.
