Uskoro počinju Riječke ljetne noći, jedan od najtradicionalnijih i najprepoznatljivijih kulturnih događaja u Rijeci. Ove godine, festival će se formalno otvoriti 19. lipnja u 21.30 sati ispred zgrade HNK Ivana pl. Zajca, gdje će se u jedinstvenom programu okupiti svi ansambli Riječkog nacionalnog kazališta. Glumci Hrvatske i Talijanske drame, solisti Opere, članovi Baleta, Zbora i Orkestra učestvovat će u večeri koja simbolizira povezanost između teatra i grada. Intendantica HNK Ivana pl. Zajca, Dubravka Vrgoč, naglašava da je cilj festivala učiniti vezu između teatra i Riječkog grada što snažnijom i vidljivijom, pretvarajući čitav prostor grada u veliku pozornicu.
Festival će trajati više od mjesec dana i donijeti preko 50 programa na 20 različitih lokacija diljem Rijeke. Program uključuje spektakle iz operne, drame, plesa i simfonijske glazbe, uz prilike za interaktivne i multidisciplinarne događaje. Među izvođačima su i poznati umjetnici poput Stefany Findrika, Bože Jurića Pešića, Anamarie Knego, kao i glumci koji će izvesti ulomke iz predstava koje će se premijerno igrati tijekom iduće sezone. Ti fragmenti predstava, bazirani na tekstovima riječkih autora poput Dore Šustić, Tee Tulić, Zorana Žmirića, Davora Mandića i Eve Simčić, predstavljaju novu sezonu kao prostor u kojem Riječko kazalište nastavlja graditi dijalog s pisanom riječi vlastitog grada.
Glazbeni program donosi neka od najpoznatijih djela operne i simfonijske literature. Stefany Findrik će izvesti "Habaneru" iz Bizetove "Carmen", dok će Anamarija Knego nastupiti u dvjema opernim točkama - ariji "Je veux vivre" iz Gounodove opere "Romeo i Julija" te u duetu "Što da radim sada" iz Zajčeve operete "Momci na brod" zajedno s Robertom Kolarom. Bože Jurić Pešić izvest će Puccinijevu ariju "Nessun dorma" iz opere "Turandot", a program će obogatiti finale Devete simfonije "Iz Novog svijeta" Antonína Dvořáka te Verdijev "Va, pensiero" iz "Nabucca" u izvedbi Zbora i Orkestra riječkog kazališta. Uz glazbene izvedbe i prizore iz nadolazeće sezone, u programu će sudjelovati i članovi Baleta HNK Ivana pl. Zajca.
Otvorenje Riječkih ljetnih noći ove godine odvija se na prostoru ispred kazališta, a festival time "potvrđuje svoju dugogodišnju misiju izlaska izvan zidova kazališta i stvaranja zajedničkog prostora kulture dostupnog svim građanima i posjetiteljima Rijeke". Nakon službenog otvorenja slijedi koncert riječkog electro-rock dvojca The Siids, a ulaz na taj događaj je slobodan za sve posjetitelje. Akrobatski program "Sway Pole" u subotu i nedjelju također će biti slobodan za gledatelje, a izvodi ga Noah Chorny, jedan od najuspješnijih međunarodnih umjetnika na kineskoj šipci.
Kroz Riječke ljetne noći, organizatori žele ispričati priču o Mediteranu, koji su prepoznali kao prirodni prostor za kulturne događaje. Vrgoč ističe da je potrebno iznova ispričati priču o Mediteranu kroz kulturu, jer je taj regija postala fikcionalna, a ne stvarna. Kazalište ima zadaću da obnovi taj mitički Mediteran, a Riječke ljetne noći preuzimaju tu misiju, prizivajući programom ideju da je cijeli Grad u ljetnim mjesecima teatar.
Lokacije koje će gostiti festival ove godine uključuju Arheološki park, Principija, Trg Riječke rezolucije, Gat Karoline riječke, Park Heroja, Plažu ex hotela Parka, Zvjezdarnicu, Remizu, Tržnicu Brajda, Porto Baroš, Delta 5, dvorište Pomorskog fakulteta, prostor ispred Ekonomske škole i napokon dolazimo do kazališta. Pet novih lokacija koje su otkriveni ovog ljeta nadaju se da će postati ustaljene pozornice budućih festivala.
Vrgoč također naglašava da su ljetni festivali otvoreniji za multidisciplinarne i hibridne događaje, u kojima se prekrivaju različiti žanrovi i izrazi. Ona smatra da publika sve više traži takve kulturne događaje koji nude široki spektar iskustava i mogućnosti za sudjelovanje. Ove godine, Riječke ljetne noći donose program koji pokriva sve aspekte kulturnog života, od klasične glazbe do modernih akrobatskih performansi, omogućavajući svim interesiranim gledateljima da pronađu nešto što ih privlači.
