In a recent operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, two individuals were arrested in the village of Karađorđevac over allegations of illegally storing hazardous food products without proper documentation. The arrest was carried out by representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, UKP, the Office for Combating Crime, the Department for Combating Economic Crime, in collaboration with police officers from the Leskovac Police Directorate and the Republic Veterinary Inspection. Acting on an order from the Basic Public Prosecution Office in Leskovac, the suspects—identified as I. M., aged 54, and M. S., aged 58—were taken into custody. They are accused of committing criminal acts related to the production and placing of harmful products on the market, as well as unauthorized storage of goods.

The investigation suggests that both suspects, acting as co-perpetrators, jointly used and had access to a refrigeration facility located in the village of Karađorđevac. This facility is registered under one economic society based in Karađorđevac, which has not been entered into the Register of Approved Objects for Trade and Storage of Animal-Origin Food maintained by the Veterinary Administration. According to the findings, they stored a total of 3,287.5 kilograms of animal-origin food without the required documentation regarding origin and traceability, including declarations, mandatory labels and stamps, and proof of veterinary and sanitary inspection.

The Republic Veterinary Inspection issued a decision declaring this food unsafe for human consumption, prohibiting its placement on the market, and ordering its harmless removal and destruction. The accused were brought before the competent prosecution authorities following the criminal complaint filed against them.

The police identified the suspect after investigating a crime that took place on June 8, 2026, in Podgorica. The victim, a 44-year-old man, suffered severe injuries to his head during the attack, which reportedly occurred on Rimski Trg in Podgorica. The suspect, L.V., was charged with violent behavior and causing serious bodily injury. A criminal complaint has been filed against him, and he is now awaiting further legal proceedings.
