Juha Kankkunen, deputy team chief of Toyota, told Rally.tv that Ogier was more shocked than physically harmed, with no fractures reported. He emphasized that the decision to send the pair to the hospital was crucial after such an incident, although he could not confirm whether the cause of the crash was mechanical or otherwise. The incident marked a difficult day for Toyota, as other members of the team also faced challenges. Elfyn Evans, who had been leading the overall standings of the World Championship before the event, also suffered a high-speed crash during the morning session. Despite losing control of his car and rolling over, Evans managed to return to the track with the help of spectators and completed the stage. Although he finished the day in third place, he fell behind the leaders by nearly two minutes. With Ogier’s accident, the leadership of the rally shifted to Sami Pajari, another Toyota driver. Pajari took over the lead ahead of the final day of competition and currently holds a 46.4-second advantage over his teammate, Swedish driver Oliver Solberg. Evans, now in third place, trails by one minute and 36.3 seconds. This reshuffling of positions adds complexity to the battle for the championship title, particularly as the final stages of the rally approach. The remainder of the event will feature two more stages, both taking place on the same 30.02-kilometer route. The last stage, known as the Power Stage, will award additional points and significantly impact the final standings.
