The Slovenian Food Safety Authority (UVHVVR) has seized a batch of fresh cucumbers intended for processing after detecting excessive levels of the pesticide chlorpyrifos-ethyl. The cucumbers were imported by the Hungarian company Zoldseg-Fruct Kft and distributed in Slovenia by ETA Kamnik d.o.o. The origin of the product is unknown. All affected products have been detained and will be destroyed, as they did not reach consumers. Chlorpyrifos-ethyl is an insecticide banned within the European Union in 2020 due to concerns over its potential negative effects on human health, particularly on the nervous system development of fetuses and children.
