On the occasion of Slovenia's statehood anniversary, the Anton Gregorčič Club for Social Issues in Gorica organized a lecture by mag. Božo Rustja on the theme of the spirituality and personal faith of poet Srečko Kosovel. The event aimed to provide new insights into Kosovel's work, particularly aspects that were either overlooked or deliberately hidden in broader or school-based presentations. Mag. Rustja, who was drawn to Kosovel in his youth and became more familiar with him in 1989 when he was a spiritual leader in Sežana, emphasized the need to 'free' Kosovel from conventional interpretations. He highlighted Kosovel's father, who was persecuted by Italian authorities due to his patriotic stance and teaching career. Kosovel's mother came from Sužid near Kobarid, where Simon Gregorčič had previously worked. Both parents brought strong cultural and patriotic influences into their family. The family eventually moved to Tomaj, where they built their own house.
