The new city supports talents: call for scholarships 2026/2027

The Municipality of Novo Mesto has announced a call for extraordinary scholarships and one-time financial assistance for talented students and young people in the academic year 2026/2027. The initiative aims to support young individuals from the municipality who achieve above-average results across various fields. Monthly scholarship amounts are set at 240 euros for education within Slovenia and 360 euros for study abroad, while a one-time cash grant for international students is 600 euros. The deadline for submitting applications is October 2, 2006. The municipality emphasizes that such incentives have been systematically investing in developing young talents for years, having supported a total of 25 students since 2016. Eligibility requires Slovenian citizenship, permanent residence in the municipality, and high average grades—minimum 4 for students and 8 for university students. Candidates must also demonstrate notable achievements outside formal education. International students qualifying for both the scholarship and the one-time grant can apply simultaneously. A committee will evaluate timely and complete applications, with the final number of recipients depending on the test
