A new case of the deadly disease flew to France and ended up in isolation.

A new case of hantavirus has been confirmed in a French-Argentine national who had vacationed in France earlier this month. According to the French Ministry of Health, the man is currently in isolation in Spain. The infection was identified as the Andes strain, the only variant of the virus that can spread between humans. While he initially showed mild symptoms, they have since disappeared. Officials have stated that all necessary measures were taken to track his travel history. Specialists are set to meet next Thursday to coordinate efforts across Europe and determine further actions. Authorities have ruled out any connection between this case and the deadly outbreak on the cruise ship MV Hondius earlier this year, where 13 cases were reported, three of which resulted in fatalities. The World Health Organization declared the end of the epidemic at the beginning of July after the last infected individual completed their quarantine. Hantavirus, which spreads through rodents, is rare and there are no vaccines or specific treatments available.
