'No need for storm': PM Modi in big message ahead of Parliament Monsoon Session

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed journalists outside Parliament on Monday, urging lawmakers to focus on constructive debates during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. He emphasized the importance of meaningful discussion grounded in facts rather than disruptions, calling for a productive session that benefits the nation. Modi also highlighted India’s advancements in the space sector, particularly praising the startup Skyroot Aerospace, while making a subtle critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by referencing a “56-year-old youth.” Modi drew a comparison between the monsoon season and the parliamentary session, stating that both require proactivity to yield positive results. “Be it the monsoon or the monsoon session, if both are proactive, they prove to be highly productive,” he remarked. He added that when both are productive, it contributes to the welfare of the nation and the well-being of its citizens. “That is why we pray that the monsoon remains both proactive and productive, and that the monsoon session proves productive as well,” he said. He called for a platform within Parliament where voices can be heard through reasoned arguments and factual evidence. “Where there is a strong argument, strong facts, there is no need for a storm,” Modi said, using the metaphor of a storm to suggest that unnecessary conflict or disruption has no place in parliamentary discourse. “May every voice find space,” he continued, reinforcing his call for inclusive and respectful dialogue. In highlighting India’s recent achievements, Modi expressed pride in the country’s progress across multiple fronts. “In just one month, the nation has achieved numerous milestones, a series of accomplishments that fill every citizen with pride,” he stated. These included notable successes on the national and international stages, including advancements in the field of space exploration. Modi specifically commended the efforts of Skyroot Aerospace, noting that the startup had recently achieved a significant milestone. “Just the other day, a young Indian startup achieved a monumental feat,” he said. He pointed out that few countries have seen such rapid developments in private enterprise, emphasizing that India’s youth were leading the charge into space. “India's global profile is gaining universal recognition and acceptance,” he added, suggesting that these achievements reflect the boundless potential of the nation’s younger generation. He further noted that the average age of Skyroot’s team was just 28, using this statistic to subtly contrast with Rahul Gandhi, who is 56. “I was told that the average age of the entire team working at the ‘Skyroot’ startup is merely 28 years,” Modi said. “Young people like these have accomplished this feat. I am not speaking of a 56-year-old youth.” His remarks appeared to be a veiled jab at Gandhi, whose age has often been a point of discussion in political circles. The Monsoon Session, set to begin on Monday and conclude on August 13, is anticipated to see the government introduce several major legislative proposals. Among the key bills under consideration is the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, which aims to revise rules regarding foreign funding. Another bill, the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, focuses on restructuring the higher education system after being previously introduced in the Lok Sabha and sent to a joint committee for review. Additionally, the government plans to present the Income-tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which would replace an ordinance providing tax exemptions for foreign investors. This measure is designed to attract more capital and bolster India’s sovereign debt market. Other proposed legislation includes the Supreme Court Amendment Bill, 2026, which proposes increasing the number of sanctioned posts in the judiciary.
