The incident occurred on Monday morning around 9:30 near a retail store in Trebnje. Police were alerted to the crash, quickly located the fleeing driver, and stopped him. Upon inspection, they found that the man had no valid driver’s license, was operating an unregistered and technically unserviceable vehicle, and had illegally affixed registration plates belonging to another car. A breathalyzer test revealed he had 1.17 milligrams of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, equivalent to approximately 2.4 promille, which exceeded legal limits. He was banned from further driving and faces charges under several traffic-related laws, including those governing drivers, motor vehicles, and mandatory insurance coverage. Meanwhile, a separate incident involving a 25-year-old man who drove through a red light and collided with an 80-year-old driver resulted in the elderly man's death. The 25-year-old tested positive for cocaine and showed a blood alcohol level of 0.35 mg/l. Both parties were involved in a detailed investigation, with police continuing to gather information and notify the appropriate court. The 80-year-old suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Tests revealed he had 1.48 mg/l of alcohol in his breath, equivalent to 3.0 g/kg. He will also face charges for multiple violations. In Maribor, a 19-year-old man escalated tensions at a public event, leading to a physical altercation with multiple individuals and police officers. Despite being ordered to step back, he continued provoking others, eventually engaging in a fight. He pushed a security officer and attempted to prevent police from carrying out their duties, resulting in minor injuries. His actions led to his arrest and subsequent detention.
