Storms in western Slovenia, danger is looming

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for western Slovenia, with heavy rainfall recorded in some areas within a single hour. According to the Slovenian Environment Agency (Arso), nearly 23 millimeters of rain fell in one hour near Mount Sviščak before 4 p.m., as reported on social media. The radar images from Arso show active thunderstorm cells over several regions, including the Julian Alps, near Cerknica, parts of Notranjska, and Kočevski Rog. In Logatec, temperatures dropped to 22 degrees Celsius, while in Idrija they reached 23 degrees, in Upper Gradišče 25 degrees, and in Postojna 27 degrees Celsius. Despite this cooling effect, high temperatures are expected to continue across much of the country in the following days. The sudden change in weather conditions is anticipated to become more pronounced on Friday, as fresher air will reach Central Europe. A northeast wind will blow, bringing light showers and thunderstorms in certain areas.
