New study: How much and what Austrians drink

A new study by IMAS reveals that Austrians consume an average of 2.1 liters of fluids per day, slightly below their perceived ideal amount of 2.4 liters. The survey indicates that 25% of respondents believe they do not drink enough, while 72% feel they meet their hydration needs. Water is the most commonly consumed beverage, followed by coffee with milk and mineral water, whereas sports drinks and energy drinks are less favored. The main motivations for drinking include refreshment, thirst quenching, and natural taste, with fewer people prioritizing sustainability or brand recognition. The study surveyed 1,021 individuals aged 16 and above, representing the Austrian population statistically.
