Innovative PV plant at 2,350 meters could make school

A Tyrolean ski resort has begun constructing a unique photovoltaic installation at an altitude of 2,350 meters, aiming to supply half of the electricity needed for its lifts. The project, called 'Kühtai Solar,' uses 3,280 solar modules with a total peak power of 2 megawatts, expected to generate around 2.9 gigawatt-hours annually, equivalent to the consumption of 850 households. The system is designed to allow solar panels to swing freely in the wind, reducing load and increasing efficiency by up to 50%. The installation is located near a snow cannon reservoir and utilizes existing infrastructure for easier setup. Excess energy produced during winter will be used for ski lift operations, while surplus during off-seasons will be shared within a local energy community.

Bias read (Center): The article presents the development of a renewable energy project as a technical and environmental initiative, focusing on innovation and sustainability. It does not take a clear ideological stance but rather reports on the practical implementation of solar technology in a challenging alpine region
