Several top scorers in Hong Kong’s university entrance examinations overcame personal adversity to achieve their exceptional grades, including an almost-blind student who plans to become a legal advocate for the vulnerable. Four other top scorers were motivated to study medicine due to childhood illnesses and witnessing friends suffer. Among the 24 top scorers, 20 planned to study medicine, while nine aimed to attend the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and three applied to the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Some remain undecided, and others have chosen double-degree programs or will study abroad. Five elite schools produced multiple top scorers, with St Paul’s Co-educational College achieving a record-breaking five.
