EUR 6.84 million from the State for the energy renovation of Maribor schools and kindergartens

The City of Maribor has received approval from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy to allocate up to €6.84 million in non-repayable funds for the energy renovation of sixteen public buildings owned by the municipality, primarily schools and kindergartens. The project aims to improve the energy efficiency of these buildings, reduce operational costs, and provide better conditions for children, staff, and other users. Static inspections were conducted on all the mentioned buildings, revealing structural deficiencies in twelve of them. However, none of the inspected buildings had issues requiring immediate evacuation or prohibition of use. Structural repairs will be carried out before or alongside the energy renovations, depending on the scope of work. The city signed a concession agreement with Petrol and partners Resalta and GIC Construction in August to implement the project, which is expected to begin in November this year and conclude by June next year.
