A free ticket giveaway for the upcoming AGRA agricultural fair has been announced, offering two complimentary entry passes to ten participants who will be selected through a competition. The event, which runs from August 22 to 26, marks its first five-day duration this year, with daily access from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. over 70,800 square meters of exhibition space featuring 1,690 exhibitors from 36 countries. Algeria serves as the guest country this year, showcasing its traditional products and agricultural heritage. The competition, organized by Maribor24, invites readers to comment on a specific question under a Facebook post linked to the article. Participants must identify someone they would take along to the fair, ensuring both a response and a named companion for eligibility. Winners will be randomly drawn on Monday, August 19, after which the selected individuals will receive their tickets. While the contest provides a chance to secure entry, visitors can also purchase tickets online, allowing them to plan their visit independently of the competition’s outcome. The fair promises a diverse range of activities, including modern farming equipment such as tractors and drones, alongside displays of livestock and plant samples. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore solutions for precision agriculture, including smart weather stations and remote-controlled tractor systems. Traditional elements remain prominent, with exhibits of cattle, horses, small animals, beekeeping demonstrations, and garden plots. The fair aims to cater to professionals, hobbyists, and families alike, offering a comprehensive experience. Algerian participation highlights the fair's international scope, with the country presenting its agricultural legacy and food products. Visitors can sample Algerian specialties such as olive oil, olives, and rose-based products, while enjoying award-winning wines and dairy items. The event includes competitions, exhibitions of historical farm tools, expert meetings, and family-friendly activities. Detailed schedules are available in the official fair program. In addition to the main exhibition, the fair recognizes quality in various categories. The Wine of Slovenia Gornja Radgona has the longest tradition among evaluated wines, having participated in numerous evaluations. This year, 129 producers from Slovenia, Austria, and Croatia submitted 525 samples, resulting in 13 champion titles, 19 large gold medals, 201 gold medals, 228 silver, and 27 bronze awards. Notable winners include traditional and innovative wines, with some older vintages receiving recognition. The wine tasting results reflect a balance between tradition and innovation, emphasizing quality across all entries. Similarly, the dairy sector showcases traditional craftsmanship, with the Bohinjski sir from Bohinjska Sirarna receiving special recognition for its role in Slovenian cheesemaking heritage. Over 118 products were evaluated, leading to 113 awards, including nine champions. The fair also honors innovative products with added value, maintaining the importance of independent expert evaluation. The event continues to follow international standards for sensory analysis of milk and dairy products. The meat section maintains high quality, with 390 products evaluated, and all fresh meat entries received recognition. Standardized products accounted for 95% of the awarded entries, with ten champions among them. These outcomes underscore the fair's commitment to excellence across all sectors, reinforcing its reputation as a premier platform for agricultural innovation and tradition.
