The Osolnik River is being cleaned up

In the village of Osolnik, near the town of Medvode, workers are nearing the completion of one of the larger post-flood rehabilitation projects in the area. The focus of the work is the largest gully, which was triggered during the floods in August 2023. This gully caused damage to the road, eroded a smaller slope, and carried a large amount of debris into the valley. In the surrounding area, erosion features have also appeared, though they do not currently threaten the road. The rehabilitation efforts began after local residents were given access to a detour route. The main road from Sore to Osolnik has been closed off in the area where the work is taking place. According to officials from the Municipality of Medvode, drainage works with drainage ribs and pipes have already been completed. In the coming weeks, a stone embankment of 45 meters will be built to protect the riverbank, while a section of the road under the gully—375 meters long, will be repaired and resurfaced. The project is expected to be finished in the following month, ensuring greater road safety and preventing further movement and erosion of soil. The total cost of the project is around four thousand euros, and it is fully funded by the Republic of Slovenia within the framework of its regular flood prevention rehabilitation program. These measures aim to mitigate the risks associated with future flooding and improve infrastructure resilience in the region.
