A man in Međimurje plunged into a lake with a breathing apparatus made from a garden hose.

A 57-year-old man from Međimurje was hospitalized after nearly drowning in a lake while using a snorkel made from garden hose. According to local police, the incident occurred around 8 PM in Cirkovljan, where the man entered the lake to retrieve his glasses. He had tied a rope and approximately 8 meters of garden hose around his waist as a snorkel. His partner remained on the shore and quickly realized something was wrong based on the position of his flashlight. With the help of others, he was pulled back to shore unconscious. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to the Čakovec County Hospital, where he was placed in intensive care. The police warned against swimming and snorkeling in areas not designated for such activities, highlighting risks like sudden changes in depth and water temperature, as well as panic leading to potential drowning.
