Musiala's on-field collapses were the result of treatment change, says Bayern coach Kompany

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said recent on-field collapses involving midfielder Jude Musiala were linked to changes in his treatment regimen. The 23-year-old Germany international suffered two incidents, first during a friendly match against Heidenheim on Tuesday and later in a game against RB Leipzig on Saturday, both requiring medical intervention. In the Heidenheim encounter, Musiala collapsed just six minutes after entering the field and needed assistance to leave the pitch. Musiala confirmed earlier this week that he had been diagnosed with a medical condition and described the episodes as "currently part of my everyday life." Kompany addressed concerns regarding Musiala’s well-being ahead of Bayern’s upcoming German Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund. During a press conference, Kompany stated that Musiala had informed him that adjustments to his treatment had led to temporary side effects. “I spoke with Jamal,” Kompany said. “He said, 'no problem, you can say it.' With his treatment, he changed some things and that had some side effects. That is normal, that during treatment you try something else.” Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, emphasized the club’s unwavering support for Musiala. He revealed that the team had been aware of Musiala’s condition throughout the previous season and that other players were also informed. “We’ve known about it the entire last season,” Eberl said. “The players also knew about it. For us, it's become part of everyday life.” Eberl noted that Musiala had opted to disclose his condition publicly, which would allow him more time to adapt to the new reality. As a result, Musiala will not participate in Saturday’s Supercup match, providing him with additional time to manage the transition. Musiala has faced challenges in regaining his peak performance following a severe injury sustained in July 2025, which kept him out of action for six months. Despite these obstacles, Kompany expressed confidence in Musiala’s progress and readiness to contribute effectively. “I am completely calm,” Kompany remarked. “I now expect the counter-attack from Jamal.
