More support for construction tech firms to innovate; developers adopting robotics and automation: Chee

Singapore's National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat announced increased support for construction technology firms aiming to innovate with robotics and automation. Developers and contractors will gain access to a list of certified technology partners for JTC projects, enabling them to adopt these innovations with greater confidence. To foster innovation, rental fees for sandboxes—spaces used to test and develop new technologies—will be waived for two years starting in July. This initiative aims to reduce costs for companies experimenting with solutions like robotics and AI, which are expected to enhance productivity and sustainability in construction. The government plans to expand the waiver to other technological areas if needed, while also mandating the use of robots in construction tenders by late 2025.
