More nations willing to join GCAP jet project, Italy says

Italy's Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated that more countries could potentially join the Global Combat Air Program (GCAP), a joint fighter jet development initiative involving Italy, Britain, and Japan. The program aims to create a next-generation fighter aircraft by 2035 through a partnership including BAE Systems, Leonardo, and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement (JAIEC). Crosetto mentioned Canada as a potential observer and expressed openness to Germany, Saudi Arabia, and others joining to share costs and enhance collaboration. This comes after Germany and France abandoned their own fighter jet project due to disagreements among arms manufacturers.
