Agriculture Minister Fires 13 Officials over Online Gambling

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has dismissed 13 senior officials from his ministry after they were found to have participated in online gambling, according to official statements. The decision was announced during a press conference held on Monday, where Amran emphasized that the actions violated both disciplinary rules and the ethical standards expected of civil servants. The dismissals came after thorough verification of reports indicating that several officials were involved in online gambling activities. According to Amran, the ministry received these reports and conducted detailed investigations before taking action. Amran stated that the names of the dismissed officials were not disclosed, referring to them simply as "officials." He reiterated that all those found to have directly engaged in online gambling would face permanent dismissal. In addition to dismissing the officials, Amran directed the ministry’s Inspectorate General and Secretariat General to swiftly appoint replacements for the vacated positions. The ministry currently employs around 52,000 staff members, and all vacancies were promptly filled, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
