Measurements following the remediation of the soil of the Hudinja National Kindergarten showed no signs of re-contamination of the playing field

Soil tests conducted at the kindergarten playground in Hudinja, nine years after its remediation, have shown no signs of renewed contamination. The measurements confirm that levels of heavy metals remain comparable to those recorded after the soil replacement in 2017. Surface layer samples showed all analyzed substances below regulatory limits, while slightly higher nickel concentrations were detected in the deeper layer (10–20 cm), but these remained under warning thresholds and lower than in 2017. The initial contamination was attributed to historical industrial emissions from metallurgical activities in the area. Authorities emphasize that the remediation was effective and the soil remains safe for children’s use.
