People buried in landslide in western China

Several people were buried by a rockslide in western China today morning local time in Pengshui County, east of the city of Chongqing. According to disaster relief authorities, the landslide occurred along a populated road. State television broadcast footage of the mountain slope collapsing onto a residential street, and another video showed people fleeing from a dust cloud. The number of people trapped under the debris remains unclear. Chinese state media reported, citing authorities, that multiple homes were buried and people were trapped, with eight individuals rescued so far. State television noted that residents had noticed stone falls shortly before the collapse, and during the subsequent evacuation of 60 residents, the rockslide occurred.
