Madonna’s previous album, Madame X, was released in 2019 and also reached the top of the charts. With this latest release, she has now secured her 13th position on the official UK Albums Chart, matching the record previously held by rock legend Elvis Presley. Both artists have achieved this feat as solo performers, making them tied for the most albums to reach number one in British chart history. However, the Beatles still hold the all-time record with 15 number-one albums. Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones also share the second place on this list with ten number-one albums, placing Madonna and Presley just behind them. In the United States, Madonna and Presley are tied for the tenth-most number-one albums on both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts. It's worth noting that the Billboard 200 began tracking data in 1956, meaning some of Presley’s early albums were not included in these statistics. Nonetheless, Madonna is the fourth female artist to achieve ten number-one albums on both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100, joining the ranks of The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Drake. On social media, Madonna expressed her gratitude and disbelief over the overwhelming reception of her new album. “Dreams really come true,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone who helped make these dreams happen. I’m still pinching myself and can’t believe the album is number one around the world. My dream was to get people dancing and bring them joy this summer. Dreams really come true.” She also shared an announcement from her label, Warner Records, confirming that the album reached number one on 13 international charts, including the US, Australia, the UK, Spain, and Canada. Music critics have praised the album as a standout work in Madonna’s discography. Confessions on a Dance Floor II is considered a continuation of her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, for which she won a Grammy for best electronic/dance album. Critics describe the new album as her best in two decades, highlighting its return to classic dance music and its vivid storytelling rooted in her experiences in New York during the 1980s. Alexis Petridis of The Guardian called it “her most vital album in two decades,” noting how it reflects her deep connection to the past while resonating with contemporary audiences. One of the lead singles from the album is Bring Your Love, featuring pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Another notable track is Bloodline, co-written and performed by Madonna with her daughter Lourdes Leon, Lolo. The song explores themes of creative energy passed from mother to child, navigating public pressure, and maintaining personal identity. It serves as a deeply personal reflection on family and artistry. Madonna is also set to embark on a global tour titled The Celebration of Confessions Tour, beginning in November with a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York.
