CPI(M) attacks Rahul Gandhi over remarks on Vijayan: 'Stop being facilitator for ED, Modi govt'

CPI(M) general secretary M. A. Baby has intensified criticism against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of hypocrisy and indirectly supporting the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Modi government. This confrontation emerged during a heated discussion at the INDIA bloc meeting, where Gandhi's remarks about former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sparked controversy. In response, Baby accused Gandhi of fostering an environment conducive to the targeting of opposition leaders by central authorities, thereby undermining the role of the Leader of the Opposition.

The incident unfolded during a meeting held on June 8, where Gandhi expressed reluctance to greet Vijayan due to ongoing political tensions. His statement was met with objections from Left leaders, who alleged that Gandhi and other Congress leaders had previously made accusations against CPI(M) during the Kerala assembly elections, suggesting a tacit understanding with the BJP.
