V maju 2026 je Slovenija zaznamovala zelo uspešen mesečni obdobje v turističnem smislu, kar je potrdilo ne samo narast v številu prenočitev, temveč tudi zgodovinsko uvrstitve Ljubljane med najvarnejših mest na svetu. Po podatkih nastanitvenih obratov je bilo v maju 2026 prihodov skoraj 680.000 turistov, kar predstavlja povečanje za 10 odstotkov glede na lanski maj. Skupno je bilo ustvarjenih skoraj 1,6 milijona prenočitev, kar predstavlja povečanje za 11 odstotkov. Tujih turistov je bilo skoraj 552.000, kar predstavlja povečanje za 13 odstotkov, in prenočitev je bilo več kot 1,2 milijona, kar je povečanje za 15 odstotkov. V hotelih je bilo 45 % vseh prenočitev, kar predstavlja povečanje za 2 odstotka. Tuji gosti so prispevali tri četrtine tovrstnih prenočitev. Zasebne sobe, apartmaji in hiše so prispevali 23 % vseh prenočitev, kar je povečanje za 22 odstotka. Tuji turisti so ustvarili 90 % tovrstnih prenočitev.
