ARThe province of Tucumán has set the date for local elections in 2027, with current governor Osvaldo Jaldo announcing May 9 as the election day. In this context, the libertarian party La Libertad Avanza (LLA) officially launched its first candidate for provincial governor, Lisandro Catalán, former national Minister of the Interior under Javier Milei. The event took place at the Hotel Catalinas Park in front of around 900 people and marked the beginning of LLA’s electoral strategy in Tucumán, where they aim to challenge the Peronist hold on power. Catalán, who is also president of LLA in Tucumán, presented a program titled 'Punto de partida para la libertad de los tucumanos,' outlining structural reforms in fiscal, institutional, educational, health, and security policies. The launch received explicit support from LLA’s National Council, which sent technical and political representatives to assist. The party hopes Catalán can defeat Jaldo in the upcoming elections.
