Lebanon and Israel conclude new round of negotiations to end conflict

Libanon and Israel have concluded a new round of talks in Rome, mediated by the United States, aimed at ending their conflict. The discussions resulted in an agreement on establishing 'pilot areas' in southern Lebanon. According to an American official, the two-day negotiations were productive and positive, with participants agreeing on the structure and guidelines for these pilot zones, which are expected to be finalized and implemented in the coming days. However, Hezbollah, a Shia movement in Lebanon, continues to reject any agreements while Israeli forces occupy Lebanese territory and continue attacks in southern Lebanon. The deal would involve a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from occupied areas, with Lebanese forces taking control, while Hezbollah would disarm. These processes are initially set to occur in two pilot areas. Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah reignited in early March after Israel, alongside the U.S., launched a war against Iran in late February, with Hezbollah supporting Iran through attacks on Israel. Despite a peace agreement signed by Israel and Lebanon at the end of June, attacks have not ceased.

Lebanon and Israel to agree on pilot areas

It includes quotes from an American official and provides context about the ongoing conflict and the rejection of the agreement by Hezbollah. There is no evident bias in the tone
