In 2026, the European pizza scene saw a significant recognition of Spanish pizzerias, with seven establishments from Spain making the list of the best pizzerias in Europe. This year's rankings were announced after a week-long celebration known as Pizza Week Spain Edition 2026, which featured numerous meetings, menus, and dinners throughout the country dedicated to honoring the art of pizza-making. The awards ceremony took place at the Fundación Pablo VI in Madrid, hosted by 50 Top Pizza, a leading guide in the industry. This prestigious ranking excludes Italian pizzerias, as they have their own separate list.
Napoli on the Road, based in London, has once again claimed the top spot for the third consecutive year. The restaurant operates three locations in the British capital, with its latest opening in late 2025 located in the Soho neighborhood. Behind this successful venture stands Michele Pascarella, who learned to make pizzas at the age of 11 in his hometown of Caserta, near Naples. Upon moving to London, he was determined to bring Neapolitan-style pizza to the city, traveling around in a van where he prepared wood-fired pizzas on the road.
Baldoria, located in Madrid, has been named the second-best pizzeria in Europe, maintaining its position from the previous year. Owned by Ciro Cristiano, this establishment has become the best pizzeria in Spain. Cristiano, originally from Naples, arrived in Madrid in 2020 as the executive chef for the Big Mamma group and later opened his own business in late 2022. Within less than four years, Baldoria has emerged as a temple of pizza-making, emphasizing craftsmanship and quality from the dough to the ingredients, using traditional methods and a Neapolitan wood-fired oven that cooks pizzas in just seconds.
The third position went to IMperfetto in Puteaux, France. Tonino Cogliano and Simone Lombardi describe their creations as recipes passed down through generations with a touch of originality without compromising the harmony of traditional flavors.
Returning to Spain’s presence in the top rankings, Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona secured fifth place. Founded more than seven years ago by Jorge Sastre and Rafa Panatieri, the restaurant continues to uphold the philosophy of "from farm to pizza," focusing on local products, seasonal ingredients, and handmade work. Their approach includes the production of their own cured meats and cheeses, reinforcing their commitment to quality and authenticity.
Fratelli Figurato, run by brothers Vittorio and Riccardo Figurato, holds the 11th position. Opened in 2017, this Madrid-based pizzeria has become a classic entry in the rankings. Coming from the world of marketing, the brothers turned their passion for food into a profession, bringing the essence of Neapolitan pizza to the capital. Their success can be attributed to their light and unconventional dough, daily artisanal preparation of pizzas, and high-quality ingredients.
Oura, situated in Santiago de Compostela, ranks as the 14th best pizzeria in Europe. This new entrant in the rankings focuses on contemporary Neapolitan pizza made with Galician products and a unique perspective. Established in late 2025, Oura traces its origins back to 2021 when it began as Cruel Pizza, a small takeaway in Pineda de Mar, Barcelona, before evolving into its current form.
This edition of the rankings expanded the number of awardees from 50 to 60, reflecting the growing influence and diversity within the European pizza landscape. The inclusion of multiple Spanish pizzerias highlights the country's rising prominence in the international culinary scene, particularly in the realm of traditional Neapolitan pizza. Each of these restaurants brings its own unique flair while adhering to the time-honored techniques and ingredients that define authentic pizza-making. As the rankings continue to evolve, they serve as both a benchmark for excellence and a testament to the enduring appeal of pizza across Europe.
