Lamda opens first phase of Ellinikon sports park, projects 1 million annual visitors

Lamda Development has announced the start of the first phase of The Ellinikon Sports Park in Athens, which is part of a larger urban regeneration project on the site of a former airport. The initial phase, set to open on July 20, includes an athletics track, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a sports hostel, and extensive public green space. The development requires a total investment of 100 million euros and is expected to attract around 300,000 visitors by the end of 2026, rising to approximately 1 million annually by 2027. The park will be open 362 days a year starting in September, offering free access to many facilities. The second phase, including additional sports amenities and a wellness center, is planned for completion in about two years.

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual information about the development and operations of a sports facility without expressing any ideological or political stance. It focuses on the project's infrastructure, visitor projections, and operational plans, maintaining a neutral tone throughout.
