La Union honors top LGUs for disaster resilience

The Provincial Government of La Union honored several local government units (LGUs) during the inaugural RED SEAL (Resilience and Emergency in Disaster: Sustainable and Ecologically Adaptive LGUs) Award ceremony in San Fernando. The awards recognized LGUs for their efforts in disaster risk reduction and emergency response initiatives aimed at strengthening community resilience. San Fernando was named the 2026 RED SEAL Gold Awardee, receiving P1 million for capacity-building initiatives, structural projects, or disaster response equipment. Naguilian received the Silver Award with P750,000, and Bacnotan received the Bronze Award with P500,000. Additional training packages were provided to Balaoan and Burgos to enhance their emergency response capabilities. All participating LGUs received plaques of appreciation for their contributions to disaster resilience.
