'The beach loves the book', in Ferragosto the writers land in Cervia

On Ferragosto, the summer solstice in Italy, the coastal town of Cervia welcomed a unique literary celebration known as “La spiaggia ama il libro” (The Beach Loves the Book). The 34th edition of the annual book festival saw authors arrive by sea, marking the start of the “Sbarco degli autori” (Authors’ Landing) event. Among the notable participants were Simona Ventura and Giovanni Terzi, alongside writers such as Marino Bartoletti, Enrico Franceschini, Maurizio Mannoni, Francesca Costenaro, and the pseudonymous author “Nevada.” The event took place at 6:15 p.m., with the authors arriving under the Torre San Michele-Piazzale Salinari via traditional fishing boats from Cervia, Caporale Leone, Maria, Tre Fratelli, Mario Lanza, and Delfino. These vessels operated in collaboration with the Circolo Nautico, Cooperativa Bagnini, Scuola Vela dei bambini, and Capitaneria di Porto, coordinated by the local municipality. The arrival of the authors was followed by a traditional showcase at the Magazzini del Sale, where a stage had been set on the beachfront. Marino Bartoletti introduced his work Caro Lucio ti scrivo (Gallucci), while Maurizio Mannoni presented Quella notte a Saxa Rubra (La nave di Teseo). Enrico Franceschini discussed Arrivederci Londra (Baldini+Castoldi), Francesca Costenaro shared Lettere anonime per cuori smarriti (Piemme), and “Nevada” unveiled Ti aspetto sempre. Special guests Simona Ventura and Giovanni Terzi joined forces with VenturAcademy to contribute to the event’s cultural richness. The program was hosted by journalists Ilaria Bedeschi and Beppe Boni, who guided the audience through discussions and readings.
