A Kuwaiti company has secured $16 billion, a pipeline network.

KOC će imati isključivo vlasništvo nad naftovodima i kontrolu nad njihovim poslovanjem, dok će strane investitori imati pravo korištenja mreže od 13 naftovoda ukupne dužine 320 km. Sredstva će pomoći Kuvajtu da poveća proizvodni kapacitet nafte do četiri milijona barela dnevno do 2035. godine, bez ograničavanja odluka o proizvodnji i preradi nafte.

Kuwait's state-owned oil company, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), has secured a financial arrangement worth $16 billion with a group of international investors to fund infrastructure projects through its pipeline network. The agreement was announced by KPC, which stated that the deal involves its subsidiary, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), establishing a joint venture with American firms Blackstone and KKR, as well as Canadian firm Brookfield. In this partnership, KOC will hold a 51 percent stake, while the remaining 49 percent will belong to the foreign investment groups. These foreign entities will gain the right to use KOC’s network of 13 pipelines, totaling approximately 320 kilometers in length. Under the terms of the agreement, the new joint company will grant KOC exclusive usage and management rights over the pipeline network for 20.5 years, with compensation based on the volume of crude oil transported. Following the completion of the transaction, KOC and KPC will receive an initial advance of $7.85 billion, which will be directed toward capital investments, according to the company's statement. This funding aims to help Kuwait achieve its target of increasing production capacity to four million barrels per day by 2035. The pipeline network managed by KOC connects Kuwaiti oil fields with export terminals in the Arabian Gulf. Currently, Kuwait maintains an OPEC production quota of around 2.63 million barrels per day. KPC estimates the production capacity of the fields under its control to range between 2.8 and 2.9 million barrels per day. The agreement ensures long-term revenue for the investment groups, tied to the volume of oil transported rather than fluctuations in oil prices. The joint venture will allow the foreign investment groups access to the pipeline system, which plays a crucial role in Kuwait's energy sector. The deal reflects a strategic move by Kuwait to secure long-term financing for infrastructure expansion while maintaining control over key assets. KOC retains sole ownership of the pipelines and full operational control, ensuring that decisions regarding production levels and refining remain within national hands. This financial arrangement underscores the importance of the oil sector in Kuwait's economy and highlights ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its energy infrastructure. The involvement of major global investment firms signals confidence in Kuwait's energy prospects and the stability of its oil industry. As part of the agreement, the foreign partners will benefit from a steady income stream linked directly to the volume of oil transported through the network, providing them with predictable returns irrespective of market volatility. The agreement is expected to support Kuwait's broader economic goals, including enhancing its position as a regional energy hub and meeting future demand for oil exports. With the additional funding, KPC can focus on upgrading existing facilities and expanding operations to meet projected growth targets. The collaboration between KOC and the international investment groups represents a blend of local expertise and global capital, aimed at strengthening the country's energy infrastructure and securing its place in the global oil market.
