The article reports on an increase in fines for illegal speedboat operation (glisiranje) in Slovenian coastal areas such as Krk, Rab, and Novigrad. According to Dražen Šarčević, a representative of the maritime police, the highest number of violations occur under the bridge on Krk and around Rab Island. The number of fines for unauthorized speedboat use has risen by 40% compared to last year. Darko Bilić, commander of a patrol boat, emphasized that operators are unaware of the dangers their high-speed vessels pose to swimmers, divers, and users of kayaks and canoes. The maritime police also noted other violations during routine checks, including unauthorized anchoring and lack of required documents among some fishermen. In the area of Pašman and the Novigrad waters, ten people were fined for operating speedboats within 300 meters of the shore on Wednesday alone, with three being Croatian citizens and seven foreigners. Fines range from 400 to 7,000 euros, while the Croatian Maritime Code prohibits speedboat operation within 300 meters of the shore.
