The Crane Municipality started demolishing the old Soncek kindergarten

The Municipality of Kranj has begun demolishing the old kindergarten Sonček on Planina, marking the start of its largest investment in early childhood education. The site will be replaced by a modern wooden building accommodating 154 children, with the total project estimated at eight million euros. The demolition coincides with the 60th anniversary of the operation of Kranjski vrtci. The old facility, built in 1958, was deemed outdated and could only accommodate three sections, while the new structure will include seven sections and offer additional facilities such as playgrounds, parking areas, and a shelter. The project is partially funded by national and European funds, with the municipality receiving 1.683 million euros from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth, and an additional 3.284 million euros through territorial investments. The mayor emphasized that large local investments without state and EU funding are no longer feasible.
