Researchers in the United States are developing a novel approach to combat nuisance mosquitoes using a fleet of tiny drones equipped with artificial intelligence. The technology, being pioneered by a startup called Tornyol, involves microdrones capable of detecting and eliminating flying insects midair. According to the company, these devices could significantly reduce the cost of mosquito control while minimizing reliance on chemical insecticides. The project has drawn attention after one of the founders, Alex Toussaint, shared footage online showing a successful test in which a small drone tracked and struck a moth inside a controlled environment.
