CROSSING THE BORDER: Carriers without a TAG are being fined

The article reports that there are currently no vehicle stops at border crossings in Serbia, according to the Automobile-Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS). It notes that neither at toll stations on highways nor at other checkpoints in Serbia are vehicles being detained. The AMSS warns of increased traffic intensity during morning and afternoon hours, particularly towards summer tourist destinations and corridors used by foreign nationals. The company 'Putevi Srbije' reminds that from July 1st, penalties will apply to owners and users of fourth-category vehicles who do not pay the toll electronically using a TAG device. They urge transport operators still without TAG devices to adopt them to ensure faster passage through toll stations and avoid additional fines.

Long delays and traffic disruptions have become a reality for truck drivers exiting Serbia through certain border crossings, as reported by multiple local media outlets. According to information released by the Border Police Directorate early on Monday morning, the longest waiting times were recorded at the Batrovci and Horgoš border crossings, where trucks leaving the country faced waits of approximately three hours. At the Šid crossing, commercial vehicles had to wait around two hours, while at Kelebija, the delay was about one hour. Other border crossings did not register significant delays for all vehicle categories. These bottlenecks could significantly impact logistics operations and international trade routes passing through these points.

In addition to the congestion at border crossings, roadworks are ongoing along several major highways and roads within Serbia, further complicating travel conditions. On the motorway between the Petlja Dušanovac and Petlja Lasta junctions heading towards Niš, construction work will take place from June 29 to July 1, during nighttime hours from 10 PM to 5 AM. This involves cleaning and flushing of drainage systems, which will be carried out in the overtaking lane, allowing traffic to proceed via the driving and stopping lanes.

Further south, on the section between Golubinci and Popinci, traffic during daylight hours will move in a narrowed two-lane configuration, with alternating passage of vehicles when necessary. In the area of Rogačica-Debelo Brdo, road rehabilitation works are underway, causing alternating passage of vehicles. The same pattern applies to the segment between Kladovo and Milutinovac. Additionally, from June 30 to July 4, there will be a complete halt to traffic on the Jasikovo-Debeli Lug road between 9 AM and 5 PM due to roadwork. Alternative routes include Bor-Donja Bela Reka-Rudna Glava or Petrovac na Mlavi-Kučevo.

The Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Serbia (AMSS) has confirmed that there are currently no delays at passenger freight terminals at Serbian border crossings. According to data from the Border Police Directorate, there are also no delays at toll stations on the country's motorways. However, AMSS warned that increased traffic intensity is expected during the morning and afternoon hours on urban roads, as well as on motorways and main roads leading to summer tourist destinations and corridors used by foreign citizens.

JP "Putevi Srbije," the state-owned company responsible for maintaining roads in Serbia, emphasized that starting from July 1, a penalty policy will be implemented for owners and users of category four vehicles who fail to pay tolls electronically using a TAG device. The company urged transport companies that have yet to install TAG devices to do so promptly to facilitate faster and easier passage through toll stations and avoid additional penalties.

Meanwhile, in Belgrade, significant changes to traffic patterns have been announced due to ongoing infrastructure projects. Starting today, traffic management will change on several streets including Vinogradskaja, Surčinska, Vlajkoviceva, Učitelja Miloša Jankovića, and Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra. The City Secretariat for Traffic informed residents that until July 3, reconstruction work will be conducted on the protective belt of the secondary water supply network in the existing regulation of Vinogradskaja Street. During this time, parts of the road and sidewalks will be excavated, and traffic in one direction (towards the roundabout) on Surčinska Street will be suspended from the intersection with Nedeljka Gvozdenovića Street to the roundabout with Vojvođanska and Dr Ivan Ribar Streets.

In the city center, traffic will be disrupted until July 4 on Vlajkoviceva Street near the intersection with Trg Nikole Pašića. This involves the installation of cable lines and is being executed by "Akcionarsko Društvo Elektromreža Srbije Beograd." From today until July 15, traffic will be halted on Učitelja Miloša Jankovića Street between Čingrija and Preševska Streets due to reconstruction of the water supply network, managed by JKP "Beogradski vodovod i kanalizacije."

The City Public Transport Company (GSP) Beograd announced that from today until July 6, there will be changes in the operation of JGP lines due to maintenance work on Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra. This includes the occupation of the right-hand lane in the direction towards Beogradskaja Street, performed by JKP "Beograd Put" starting tonight at 10 PM. Changes in the route will affect several bus lines, altering their usual paths temporarily. Specific adjustments apply to lines such as EKO1, 26, 27, 26N, 202N, 302N, and 307N, with some stops removed and alternative routes established.

These modifications are temporary and aimed at ensuring the safety and efficiency of both road and public transportation during the ongoing infrastructure improvements. The affected areas include Surčin, where a lane leading into the circular traffic of Surčinska, Vojvođanska, and Dr Ivan Ribar Streets has been closed, necessitating changes in the operation of JGP lines. These changes will remain in effect until July 3. Adjustments in the direction towards New Belgrade involve specific route alterations for buses on lines 71, 601, 601n, 603n, 604, 605, and 610, reflecting the new traffic dynamics in the region.
