A motorcyclist was killed in Karlovy Vary

A 20-year-old Croatian citizen died in a traffic accident on Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle on the state road D8 near Veliki Prženac in the municipality of Karlobag. The incident occurred around 15:30 when the man was riding a motorcycle with Split license plates from Zadar towards Karlobag. He lost control due to inappropriate speed, hit a stone edge, and then collided with a rock cut. He died at the scene of the accident. During the previous weekend, the Lika-Senj Police Station recorded a total of 12 traffic accidents, including one fatal case, two incidents with two lightly injured individuals each, and nine cases involving material damage. Authorities warn that motorcyclists and moped riders often suffer injuries due to excessive speed, failure to wear protective helmets, misjudging their driving abilities, and weaving between vehicles. They advise using protective gear, adjusting speed to road conditions, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and maintaining a safe distance from preceding vehicles.
