Kala Utsav-2026 held at KV School

Kala Utsav-2026 took place on Sunday at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in the Belagavi cantonment area, drawing students from multiple Kendriya Vidyalayas across Karnataka. The event, which focused on showcasing India's diverse cultural traditions, included a variety of artistic competitions such as instrumental melodic and rhythmic performances, solo and group dance recitals, theatre presentations, visual art exhibitions, and traditional storytelling sessions. Students participated enthusiastically, impressing both judges and audiences with their creative expressions and technical skills. The festival began with the symbolic lighting of a lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati, presided over by Principal Mahendra Kalra. This was followed by a prayer session and a welcome song performed by students under the direction of music teachers Santosh Puri and Aarti. The event highlighted the importance of cultural education and artistic expression within the Kendriya Vidyalaya system, offering students a platform to demonstrate their talents in classical and folk music, dance, and visual arts. Participants came from several locations, including Machhe, Sambra, Chikkodi, Sadalga, Karwar, Vijayapura, and Bagalkot. These students engaged in various competitions designed to encourage creativity, cultural awareness, and national integration. The festival aimed to foster a sense of unity among students from different regions by celebrating shared traditions and values. Principal Kalra emphasized that Kala Utsav was more than just a competition, it was a tribute to India's rich cultural heritage. He urged students to focus on expressing themselves confidently rather than being concerned with outcomes. His message aligned with the broader goals of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, which seeks to nurture well-rounded individuals who embody the ideals of discipline, creativity, and community spirit. Throughout the day, students showcased their abilities in a range of disciplines. Solo dancers performed intricate movements rooted in classical styles, while groups combined traditional elements with contemporary flair. Instrumentalists played a variety of Indian musical instruments, demonstrating both individual skill and ensemble coordination. Visual artists displayed paintings and sculptures inspired by local folklore and historical narratives. Theatre groups staged performances that reflected regional stories and themes, adding depth and diversity to the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vice-Principal G.K. Vinayagam. Faculty members such as Senior Hindi Teacher Pushpa Nigam, Vishnu Ningangoud, Bharatesh Bhosage, Kamalakshi Gokavi, and Nandkishore Jangid were present throughout the event, supporting and guiding the students. Their involvement underscored the collaborative nature of the festival, which brought together educators and learners in a shared pursuit of cultural enrichment.
