The article discusses public perception that left-leaning media systematically protect left-wing politicians by frequently and selectively reporting on them while harming non-left politicians. This view is supported by an analysis conducted using AI tools on Slovenian media coverage of two politicians: Boris Mijić (from the Resnica party) and Zoran Janković. The analysis compared the frequency, intensity, and tone of media coverage regarding both individuals, focusing on financial issues such as tax debts, unpaid obligations, corporate debts, legal proceedings, and corruption allegations. The AI found that coverage of Mijić was more frequent and intense, with direct accusations of debt to workers and the state, whereas Janković’s coverage used more institutionalized and less personal language. The article suggests that this difference reflects a potential bias in media framing.
