The statistics reveal a sharp increase in incidents during these months compared to other periods of the year. Croatia stands out as the country where Slovenian insured individuals report the most damage cases, likely due to its popularity as a summer destination. Similarly, Italy and Austria also rank among the top countries where Slovenian policyholders experience vehicle damage. During this period, the number of assistance calls made by Slovenian drivers while traveling abroad also rises significantly. Most interventions involve vehicle breakdowns, followed by issues such as tire problems and battery failures. Traffic accidents account for only the fourth most common reason for roadside assistance. These figures underscore the importance of being well-prepared before embarking on a journey, checking the vehicle, ensuring proper insurance coverage, and maintaining composure on the road. The cost of assistance abroad can quickly exceed 1,000 euros, and in more complex situations, it may approach or even surpass insurance limits. Therefore, adequate coverage is crucial for worry-free travel, says Eva Škrinjar, director of automotive insurance at Triglav Insurance. “During the height of the tourist season, it is even more important that drivers have appropriate assistance coverage, which can help them resolve unexpected situations quickly and effectively,” she adds.
