JSW Foundation donates 200 CPAP circuit kits to Ballari medical college

JSW Foundation donated 200 CPAP circuit kits to Ballari Medical College and Research Centre (BMCRC) on Tuesday in a ceremony held at the Zilla Panchayat office in Ballari. The donation aims to enhance respiratory support for critically ill newborns and improve infection control in neonatal care units. The handover took place in the presence of several officials, including Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Md Haris Sumair, JSW Foundation zonal head for south India Peddanna Beedala, and representatives from BMCRC. The event saw the participation of multiple stakeholders in the healthcare sector. Among them were Vishwanath B., professor and head of the Department of Paediatrics at VIMS, Ballari; B.K. Srikanth, associate professor and nodal officer for the Special Newborn Care Unit at BMCRC; JSW Foundation Vijayanagara location head Bharathi Palanisamy; and Theme lead for health and nutrition Muthukrishan. The ceremony highlighted the collaboration between private foundations and public healthcare institutions in addressing critical gaps in neonatal care. The CPAP circuit kits will be used to provide dedicated respiratory support to newborns requiring such assistance. Each child receiving treatment will have their own circuit, which is expected to significantly reduce the risk of infections spreading among patients. This measure aligns with broader goals to lower the infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Ballari district. Md Haris Sumair, Zilla Panchayat CEO, emphasized the district administration's commitment to reducing these rates. He acknowledged the ongoing contributions of the JSW Foundation, particularly its role in supporting high-risk pregnancies in Sanduru taluk. The foundation's involvement in providing essential medical equipment underscores its dedication to improving healthcare outcomes in the region. The JSW Foundation has been actively engaged in health and nutrition initiatives designed to bolster public healthcare services. These efforts include enhancing access to quality healthcare for local communities and strengthening infrastructure within existing healthcare facilities.
