The National Assembly has reappointed Jože Ruparčič as deputy ombudsman for human rights for another six-year term. The decision was proposed by current ombudsman Simona Drenik Bavdek, who highlighted Ruparčič's extensive legal experience, expertise, credibility, and commitment to human rights work. Ruparčič previously served as a judge for over 20 years and has developed a scientific interest in legal phenomena reflecting democratic values. Due to electoral periods, procedures for reviewing his performance as ombudsman could not be completed on time. After collecting 11 candidate proposals, Drenik Bavdek selected Ruparčič, who now joins existing deputies Ivan Šelih, Miha Horvat, and Dijana Možina Zupanc.
