JOVANOVIĆ in GENEVA: Serbia to host the first ITU AI for Good Impact Europe summit during the EXPO 2027 in Belgrade

Director of the Office for IT and e-Governance, Dr. Mihailo Jovanović, along with representatives from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), announced that Serbia will host the first ITU regional AI for Good Impact Europe summit during Expo 2027 in Belgrade. This follows India hosting the event in 2024 and South Africa in 2025. The announcement was made at the AI for Good 2026 summit in Geneva. Serbia's selection highlights its progress in developing sovereign AI capabilities, including national supercomputers, investment in AI research, and development of a Serbian language large language model. The summit will take place on May 17, 2027, as part of the official business program of Expo 2027, which is themed 'Game (for) Humanity: Sport and Music for All' and is expected to attract over four million visitors. The expo, organized under the auspices of the ITU, aims to position Serbia as a modern, innovative, and digitally developed country.

"We are developing our own AI infrastructure and national supercomputers": Jovanović from Geneva sent a powerful message about the success of our country
