Once a foreign mountaineer got sick and died, and another was rescued by HGSS.

A tragic incident has occurred on Biokova, with a Czech tourist losing his life while two hikers were rescued from the area near Sutvid. According to reports from the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS), three interventions took place along the trail leading from Živogošća towards Sutvid within a short period. One of these resulted in the death of a Czech national, while another led to the successful rescue of a dehydrated and exhausted Ukrainian citizen. The incident began around 3 pm when two Czech nationals called for help. A team of approximately fifteen rescuers was dispatched to the scene. However, one of the men had already lost his life before the rescuers could reach him. According to Mladen Mužinić, spokesperson for the Makarska HGSS station, the rescuers arrived to find both men dehydrated and in shock. “When the rescuers reached the two men, who were dehydrated and in shock, one of them had already lost his life,” he stated. The colleague attempted to resuscitate the deceased, but was unsuccessful. The cause of death remains unknown, though the rescuers confirmed they did everything possible under the circumstances. Later that evening, at 6:30 pm, the HGSS received a call from a foreign national who had become lost in the area above Živogošća, at an elevation of approximately 1,050 meters. The man reported that due to high temperatures and lack of water, he had become severely dehydrated. He described feeling extreme weakness and was unable to continue safely or find his way back. Four rescuers were immediately sent to the location, and additional support was quickly mobilized as the terrain proved challenging. After several hours of nighttime ascent, the rescuers reached the stranded individual at 10:50 pm. First aid was administered on-site, followed by rest and rehydration. Under the supervision of the rescuers, the man began his descent toward the vehicle. The operation concluded successfully at 2:50 am, with all participants returning safely. In their statement, the HGSS reiterated the importance of proper planning for visitors to Biokova. They urged tourists to carry sufficient water, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and wear appropriate hiking gear. In this case, the injured individual had begun his journey in sandals, which further increased the risk and complicated his movement. The incident highlights the dangers of hiking in mountainous regions during summer months, particularly when conditions such as heat and dehydration can rapidly escalate into emergencies. The loss of the Czech tourist underscores the unpredictable nature of outdoor activities, even for experienced hikers. Meanwhile, the successful rescue of the Ukrainian man demonstrates the effectiveness of emergency response efforts in remote areas. As the search teams prepare for future operations, officials have emphasized the need for continued vigilance and preparedness among hikers. The HGSS will remain active on the terrain, ready to assist anyone in distress. The ongoing weather conditions and potential for similar incidents in the coming days have prompted local authorities to monitor the situation closely.

Tragedy at Biokovo: Czech tourist died, Ukrainian rescued from Sutvid

Special forces and HGSS helicopters rescued a wounded German from inaccessible terrain.

Why objectivity (60): The article has a dramatic tone, using phrases like 'drama na planini' and emphasizes the heroic efforts of the rescue team. This emotional framing suggests a more subjective approach rather than a balanced reporting style.

A woman sick on the beach, rescued after a spectacular helicopter pilot landing

Vrlo neutralan ton i balansirana priča o događaju.

Why factuality (60): This article discusses a completely different incident involving a woman on a beach who was rescued by a helicopter. It does not reference the primary source at all and introduces new information not present in the original document, reducing its factual consistency.

Why objectivity (55): The article uses highly emotive language to describe the rescue, such as 'dramatična borba za život,' and presents the event in a very dramatic and personal way, indicating a lack of neutrality in its presentation.
