Japan's factory activity stays firm as output surges in July, PMI shows

Japan's manufacturing sector experienced strong growth in July, with output reaching its fastest expansion since February 2014, according to the S&P Global flash Japan Manufacturing PMI, which stood at 54.7. This indicates continued expansion, although slightly lower than the previous month. The service sector saw slower growth, with the flash services PMI declining to 51.9. Export business grew at the fastest pace in four months, driven by increased overseas demand, while employment in the private sector rose for the 34th consecutive month. However, concerns over the Middle East conflict affected business confidence, particularly regarding energy prices and supply chain disruptions.
