Japan probes 39kg of bread dumped in national park

In western Japan, 39kg of bread was discovered dumped along a roadside in Daisen-Oki National Park in Tottori Prefecture between August 14 and 20, leading to a police investigation. The incident sparked the spread of fake images and videos linking the bread dumping to a rise in bear encounters. Initially thought to be used as bait for wildlife cameras, no such equipment was found. Later, the presence of 1.3kg of chicken nearby led authorities to suspect the bread was intended for feeding animals. Bread was also found at Hakuto coast, though it appeared to be a different brand. No poison was detected in either the bread or chicken.
